I haven't done 120 loads yet but I did try without fabric softener and it did turn out soft. Then I used the soap nuts with fabric softener and the laundry was super soft. The Soap Nuts detergent doesn't have too much of a scent to it. The no scent is perfect for our house as one of my sons has soap and detergent allergies. The Soap Nuts did not seem to bother his skin.
