When I Fall In Love by Clint Morey

This is the 2nd Clint Morey book I have gotten the privilege to review. I love his writing style. I especially like that his books have a Christian perspective! It is nice to read a book without all the foul language and other "adult" context.

We just got done taking care of my husbands grandma who had advanced dementia, so parts of this book really hit home.

The book is about a family who has to come together when health issues strike their parents. The main character Amy, her grandparents are devout Christians. Each of their children seem to have fallen away from their faith and beliefs. Amy believes that she is in love with this boy at home. The story follows her as she volunteers to stay and help her grandparents out while the grandpa recovers from his "illness". I believe that this is a story all young adults should read. Family should be the most important thing in life besides your personal walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. I love how Clint makes sure that you get involved with his characters. You seem to feel what they feel. Your heart follows them on their journey.

It must be nice to have the perfect plan for your life.

Amy Prescott is just your ordinary, everyday high school senior — beautiful, brilliant, athletic, able to pick the hunk of her choice, and a scholarship to Harvard nearly in her hands.

Okay, maybe not so ordinary.

She has her life planned out and it’s an exciting, adventurous plan. She can hardly wait for the next step.

But when she’s forced to care for her grandparents in Montana during Christmas break, Amy finds her orchestrated world is about to snap. She’s stuck with a cantankerous grandfather who doesn’t want her help, but needs it because of a stroke, a grandmother who is the sweetest thing ever, but suffers from Alzheimer’s, and family members out to protect “their share” of the estate.

Grandpa, a master cello maker who can no longer do his craft, reluctantly shares with Amy the story of his great adventure – how he met and won the heart of his wife in Vietnam.

But Amy has more immediate concerns. Is her boyfriend dating someone else when she’s not around? How can she fend off the Montana boy who has taken an interest in her? And then there’s that Harvard thing.

Amy doesn’t need any of this. Not now. Her life is planned. It’s a perfect plan.

At least it was.

  1. That sounds like a great book! I also love books without the foul language, and if they have a Christian perspective - that's right up my alley! :)
