Zombie Candy by Fredrick Lee Brooke Book Review

From her gorgeous husband to her acclaimed cooking classes, Candace Roach’s life looks nearly perfect from the outside. Well, appearances can be deceiving. Her husband, Larry, has three unruly addictions that drive her to the brink–zombie movies, cilantro, and having sex with other women. Luckily, her best friend Annie Ogden is back from Iraq and armed with a private investigator’s license and a fierce determination to see Candace happy again.

Together, the women uncover the ridiculous extent of Larry’s infidelity. He needs to be punished, that much is clear. But how can they hit him where it counts? Oh, if only she could find a way to tap into those three little addictions–what a lesson that would be. Italy is calling, as are the zombies in the night, as suburban housewife Candace Roach transforms herself into the ultimate fidelity vigilante, complete with a badass motorcycle, a very small pistol, and the nom de guerre ”Zombie Candy.”

What readers are saying…

Fasten your seat belts for the wild ride provided by this graphic and gritty work full of twists, turns, surprises and gourmet recipes to boot.

I laughed until my sides hurt…. Brooke does a fantastic job of paying homage to the zombie movies we love in this hilarious parody. Annie Ogden fans will not be disappointed.

Zombie Candy is a tasty morsel of revenge, regret, renewal, friendship and love with a zombie invasion that’s as good and fun as a box of Good n Plenty.

Overall ZOMBIE CANDY is an extraordinarily fun ride, but not your cliché roller coaster. No, this ones builds to a crescendo, again walking the reader (and the victim) through the labyrinth of one of the best revenge stories I’ve read in a long while.

Brooke keeps us guessing the whole time, and then leaves you with your mouth hanging open at the end: Did I just read that?!

“The First Wives Club” with zombies and cooking. But without cilantro.

I looked my husband as I was reading the story and said, ‘Some of you men are dogs.’

Everyone should purchase this book, especially if you have a friend who has dealt with a lying, cheating spouse and needs a good laugh and a little vengeful inspiration.

If you’ve ever been in a relationship with a cheater, I think you’ll get a kick out of reading one woman’s story of how she got even.

From the awkward moments of infidelities exposed at dinner parties, botched sexual encounters of an obvious sex addict, to the gruesome “zombie” attacks that will shock and amuse, this book kept me reading well past my bedtime.

This book has all the ingredients of a perfect noir comedy – well formed characters, international locations, a fast moving plot with no brakes, and of course Zombies. Revenge is a dish best served cold – and as a betrayed wife, master chef and cookery instructor, Candace cooks up the perfect recipe for the ultimate gazpacho.

Who is Fredrick Lee Brooke?

I write books because I love playing with language, on the one hand, and creating characters and seeing what crazy things they will do if you set them free. I've spent more than 20 years living in different European countries such as France, Germany and Switzerland. I speak French, German and Italian, and I've been learning Turkish for the last five years just for fun.

My books are mysteries, for lack of a better word. Doing Max Vinyl is about a computer recycling con man, while Zombie Candy is about a serial adulterer who happens to love zombie movies. In both books, Annie Ogden, a recently returned Iraq War vet who is having trouble adjusting to civilian life, gets personally involved in taking down these world-class jerks. I like a book with a good dose of humor, and the humor can come from the absurd situations people find themselves in. The world we live in is an absurd place, and you can either laugh or cry about it.

When I'm not writing I'm usually reading. I like to write book reviews. Of course I love it when people review my books, too. I like to cook and sometimes post recipes on my blog. Zombie Candy contains most of the recipes in the book in an annex at the end. I also like to hike and travel and learn about other cultures.

I agree with all these other peoples reports of the book. It is definately on the reading for adults book list. Normally my kids do the book reviews on my blog but this is one I got to read. I really enjoyed it. The characters were fun to read about and kept you following till the end.

Rockin Green Guru Detergent Review and Giveaway

http://rockingreensoap.com/

About Us

Rockin’ Green is an award-winning manufacturer of eco-friendly cleaning products designed to make cleaning easier and greener. Most well-known for their clean-rinsing laundry detergent formulated for use on all fabrics and especially useful on cloth diapers, Rockin’ Green produces detergents for hard, soft and normal water conditions (known as Hard, Soft and Classic Rock varieties).

Rockin’ Green also carries Funk Rock, a first-of-its kind natural ammonia bouncer, and Melody, an odor-neutralizer and air freshener home spray. With the exception of Funk Rock, all products come in seven natural scents, such as Mighty Mighty Marshmallow, Earth Wind & Orchids, Rage Against the Raspberry, and Bare Naked Babies (unscented).

Rockin’ Green was founded in 2009 by Kim Webb, an avid cloth diapering mom who desired a better way to clean cloth diapers and treat her kid’s sensitive skin.

I have really started to look at eco friendly products. I was pleased to find a laundry detergent that met my wants and needs. I am also always looking for products that my son can use. He has so many issues with detergents and soaps. My skin is so sensitive. I was glad that he was able to use this product. The clothes smelled like watermelons long after being washed and worn. Great eco friendly product with a wonderful long lasting smell.

Check out all the ways that you can follow this great company in the rafflecopter.

Goats Milk Bath Products Review and Giveaway

Sweet Smelling soaps:
Every goat milk soap bar is cold processed and contains at least an ounce of raw goat milk from our farm. This gives each and every bar we make a creamy goodness your skin will love. We hand cut every bar and cure it for a minimum 6 weeks. Every piece is unique in appearance, size, color and scent. Like our eight children, no two are alike. While our soaps last a long time, our impact on the environment doesn't. We use a 4" x 6" cotton bag to package our goat milk soaps; this is friendlier to the environment than plastic and lets your soaps breathe. Soaps listed here are full sized bars, but they are also available in half bar sizes as well as in soap logs. You may also choose from soaps that are unscented or made with just essential oils. Soaps weigh a minimum of 4.5 oz, but most average 5 ounces. Soaps prices range from $6 for regular bars to $6.50 for essential oil soaps to $8 for specialty soaps. Exact pricing and ingredients can be found on the individual soap pages.

Free Samples:

When you place an order, we will include up to three small soap samples with your order. Soap samples are small pieces of soap (the size of a quarter) that are good for a few hand washings. They are designed to give you an idea of what the scent smells like and how it feels on your skin. These samples do not come labeled, and are only identifiable by their color and their scent. Because there are so many people with allergies, we do not add samples to orders unless you specifically request them.

I thought this was a neat thing to test out. The soaps came in individual cheese cloth type bags.

Full Bar:

Fiji Island

Half Bar:

Pink Sugary

Half Bar:

Peppermint

Lip Balm:

Peppermint

The Peppermint actually smelled like a peppermint candy. The pink sugary soap smelled like a mix of brown sugar and sweet fruits. Fiji island smelled like a tanning room. All had a great scent. The soaps lathered nicely, which is something I wondered if it would do. I always wanted to try out homemade soaps and had never had the chance. I was very suprised and pleased. The bars are nice sized chunks of Goat's milk made soap. Even the half bars are a pretty good size. If you like to buy organic and products without all the harsh chemicals this soap is definately for you. My son has a hard time with a lot of soaps and washes. This one did not bother him at all. My hands were dry after usuing, but I wash my hands so much during the day I do not believe it was the soap. No one else in the family had that issue.
The chapstick was a fought over item in our house. It kept disappearing from my stuff and I would find it in the girls bathroom or their purses. It felt a lot better on the lips that the greasy normal feel to chapsticks. Plus the wonderful smell as you wore it was great. I liked the peppermint chapstick, when I had a cold recently, because it was almost like menthol how I could breathe a little better. I also love that I am supporting a good Christian family!

A Good Clean Soap Made by a Good Clean Family
We seek to honor Jesus in all that we do and that plays a big role in our family and our business. Our children (all eight of them) are taught "everything is a God issue" — including making and selling soap. We believe these values come through in the goodness of our products and the excellence of our customer service and we hope you will agree.

Our adventures into soapmaking originated in 2006 out of my (PJ's) desire to not use chemicals on the children’s skin. I wanted a natural soap that would moisturize their skin and last a long time. After making my first batch of soap, I put a bar into the shower. Jim's fingers soon stopped cracking and splitting. Since this was a problem he had suffered with for years, I knew I had something special.

Since I enjoyed making soap and was so impressed with its quality, I turned it into a family business. In 2008, Goat Milk Stuff was born, and I drafted the entire family into my adventures. We all agree that getting to work together as a family (despite occasional squabbles) is the best part of Goat Milk Stuff. And we do work hard. From the initial milking of the goats to the final bagging of the soap, all our goat milk soaps are handmade by the members of our family.

Reality Bites, Tales of a Half-Vampire Book Review and Giveaway

Growing up in a family of vampires, witches, werewolves, and other assorted embarrassments can be tough on a girl who is just trying to be normal and fit in. When the school plans a Halloween ball, dressing up proves to be a lot harder than it should. Mackenzie has high hopes to at least talk with the boy she likes, but first she has to make it out of the house ALIVE, or at least looking like she's not Half-Dead. What is a "good" girl to do? When reality bites, it may take more than a little bit of family magic to see her through.

Shaunda Kennedy Wenger is a talented writer. This book had a lot of imagination put into it. The people were definately fun to read about. The main character, Mackenzie, faced a lot of things that most teens face just in a colorful way. Her best friend seemed how most of our friends are. I know my friends loved being around my family, no matter how odd, I felt, they were.
Mackenzie did face things that kids do not. Her mom was a vampire and her dad was a human. She had relatives that were flies, mummies, skeletons, and a grandma who was a witch. I loved the way that Shaunda showed the true day to day of teens. It is hard to be a teenager with a normal life and family let alone a family of oddities. I truly look forward to reading more from this author. My 12 year old and I read this together. Victorea is all about the strange new things, vampires, werewolves and mummies. This was right up her alley. Reality Bites, Tales of a Half-Vampire was definately written for ages 9-14. It was a quick and fun read at only 199 pages. The end will really suprise you. A great lesson for all teen girls.

Shaunda has many places you can follow her:

Her middle grade novels include The Ghost in Me and Reality Bites, Tales of a Half-Vampire. Her chapter book, Little Red Riding Hood: Into the Forest Again earned the 2011 KART Kids Book List Award and the 2012 Purple Dragonfly Honorable Mention Award. 30 Some Weeks Deoderant Review

www.30SomeWeeks.com

What are the ingredients of DeodMom?

Only 2 ingredients. Magnesium hydroxide – a mineral safe enough to eat – and water.

The DeodoMom Cream

0% aluminum, alcohol/glycol

0% fragrance, dye, parabens

100% vegan

Jar or Rollon - which one's right for me?

They both contain the same ingredients. The jar is most suitable for women (the cream is applied with fingers like a moisturizer). The Rollon is our bestselling (popular among both men and women).

Deodorants are usually alcohol-based & reduce body odor by temporarily killing the bacteria that causes the odor. Antiperspirants, on the other hand, are almost always aluminum-based & designed to create a physical plug that prevents sweat from reaching the skin's surface

Aluminum Toxicity

The human body appears to have no biological use for aluminum, however, high concentrations of it interferes with metabolism of several metal ions essential to our health. Kidneys can eliminate aluminum from our bodies effectively, provided it's within an acceptable concentration. Excess aluminum is deposited in various tissues including muscle, liver, heart, bone, and brain.

This deoderant is Aluminum free. I loved it because unlike most roll on deoderants it doesn't leave a wet mess under your arms. Usually you put the roll ons on and have to wave your arm pits dry. Not this! Plus you don't have to worry about the smell of your deoderant mixing with the smell of your perfume. This is scent free. I recommend this. I know when I was pregant all different smells and things bothered me. This one would be great to combat that issue. This product comes in a plain tube. No extra gimics. I like the whole idea. Great little company with a great product. You should check them out! I did not know about the aluminum in deoderant so it was also a learning experience!

JJ Cole Broadway Stroller Giveaway

When I received the JJ Cole Broadway stroller I was so excited to see what this baby could do!

The only stroller that I've known to do some of what the Broadway stroller can do is the Peg Perego Skate but at a much Costlier price.

The JJ Cole Broadway Stroller, which weighs a light weight of 20 lbs easily converts from bassinet mode to a toddler seat for fashionable versatility with full 360 degree spinaway without disrupting baby! We all know that's a big plus! No parent wants to move a sleeping baby and we all know that if we take a baby out they're most likely not going to want to get back in.

To Spin the seat 360 degrees either to face mom or face away mom simply twist the

handle and spin the seat. And Yes.. you can spin the seat while it's in bassinet mode!

The Broadway stroller is great from Birth to 50lbs. I tested my 4 year old and he was way too big.

The seat has an adjustable recline so a sleepy toddler can nap without having to put it in bassinet mode.

Just simply pull the lever and adjust the seat.

I love the 5 point harness but the belly pad I could do without since it falls off allot. The fabric on the seat is also removable for easy cleaning.

The bumper bar is removable and can detach from either side for easy entry for independent

toddlers. I also love that there is zippered fabric on the bumper bar that you can remove and wash!

The Broadway easily converts from bassinet mode to a toddler seat in three easy steps:

Pull the tether to the upright position

Snap the hooks underneath the foot rest

And wala! Toddler mode!

I love the large storage basket on the bottom. That's a must when I travel.

The JJ Cole Broadway stroller comes with a height adjustable handle that extends from

36-42 inches which is great for taller parents.

The canopy is great! It's enough to keep baby covered

& comes with a peekaboo window.

The wheels are sturdy and NON air filled so you don't have to worry about

flat tires and the front wheels lock for harder terrain. I love that there is a light indicator

letting you know whether the back tires are locked or not.

The JJ Cole Broadway has an easy one hand fold. The only thing I don't really

like is that you have to remove the seat to fold. BUT, I am willing to

accept that considering all the cool features this stroller has to offer!

Another cool thing about this stroller is you can change the canopy

color out to fit your style! These are optional accessories you can purchase.

The car seats that will attach straight onto the frame is

the JJ Cole Newport car seat, Lamaze Via and First Years Via I470

The Broadway stroller also comes with a car seat adapter which will fit the following car seats.

(works with specific car seats such as Graco Snugride, and Chicco Keyfit)

Here is a quick run through of the JJ Cole Broadway on YouTube

Now who wants to win one!

Giveaway Ends March 16th to U.S residents only

I will contact the winner Via Email
