I know why they called it the Icky Stick, but I call it the miracle stick! No joke, we rent our house and the toilets are disgusting. We have bleached and used the toilet brushes...nothing really gets rid of the unsightly mess that is the inside of the toilet. This simple Pumice type stick is the answer. I went in and used it. It doesn't take too much elbow grease, but patience if the toilet is bad. I scrubbed a few rings around the bowl and they erased, like an eraser. Each time I got rid of a ring I flushed to get rid of the residue. This Icky Stick does break down. As you use it the pumice type stone gets smaller and smaller. The handle does help a lot. I am not the type of lady who likes their hands to get dirty so this was a great thing for me. My toilet wasn't perfect but looked so much better! For only $5.49, I believe it was worth the price. A lot cheaper than purchasing a bunch of different toilet cleaners.
